Beliefs and History

We found out that there were lots of Doukhabours that were sent to Labour/Slave camps and killed and whipped to death and beaten to death because of there beliefs and because they were Doukhabour!

  1. Hello. Check your sources well and your spelling.
    1. Doukhobors (not Doukhabours).
    2. If you are speaking about the persecution that took place in 1895 following the historic burning of guns in the Caucasus of Russia, there were no Labour Slave camps. Most of the dissidents who participated were exiled to surrounding areas where they had no work, little food, crowded conditions, and were vulnerable to disease. A number died. However, those conscripts who were sent to disciplinary battalions were punished with beatings -- and several of these dissidents died.
    3. Let's be careful to not stigmatize a whole group of people (such as Russians or Soviets). Focus in only on those who are directly responsible).

  2. Hi,
Yes, the Doukhobors went through some very challenging times. As Mr. Tarasoff points out, some were sent in exile for their beliefs, and others were beaten (my father's grandfather was a good example). You can always check with me for facts, and I can help point you in the right direction!
